Praise be to God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.  ~ 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 NIV

A Moment with Magic

By Debbie Winn

You never know who you are going to encounter or the lives that you will touch, when you enter the hospital with your, Pet Partner.  On this particular day, Magic, my Chocolate Lab and I were scheduled for a visit to the Oncology floor to bring some smiles and happy moments to the staff and patients.  Arriving to the floor, I was told of the sad news that a family member had just passed away, so not wanting to interfere we bypassed the family and went to work on the other end of the hall.  We visited all the patients on the floor, each one sharing their own special story with Magic and I, making us promise that we would return to see them soon.  Also, the Staff members enjoyed giving Magic lots of hugs and in return he gave them all tail wags and 'Fat Free Chocolate Kisses'.  As we were leaving, a family member who had lost their loved one noticed us walking by and said, 'That they sure would like to see Magic'.  We happily responded to their request. Magic helped wiped away their tears and brightened their sad faces with smiles of joy that only petting an animal can bring.  They all explained that this was what they needed at this time – A Moment with Magic.
